On Soft Days and Hard Days

Motherhood is not a straight line of wisdom. Some days we hold everything; some days we are held by very small mercies.

There are days when I feel capable — lunches packed, tempers steady, stories read with full attention. And there are days when dinner is toast and the floor is a landscape of toys, and I still count the day as love.

Permission to be human

I do not need to perform perfect motherhood. My children need a real person: present, imperfect, willing to repair.

If today felt soft, savor it. If it felt hard, you are not failing — you are living a real story with other people in it.
